The PRR/RDG/WM South Central Region represents the Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR), Reading Railroad (RDG), and Western Maryland Railway (WM) in South Central Pennsylvania and Maryland. It is an HO scale layout comprised of two decks in a 22' x 36' basement. It is set in the transition era of the mid 1950's with both steam and diesel locomotives. It is a "proto-freelance" railroad. That is, it is not meant to be an exact "replica" of the actual railroad, but rather capture the "flavor" of what these railroads were in the 1950's.
The website is nicely laid out, with tons of great pics, all shown as thumbnails for fast loading, and clicking on the thumbnail gives you a large picture in a new window, so you don't lose your place. One page shows the location of the railroad, and several others show construction details from 2001.

We are featuring the website of the Dagus and Rockwood Railroad. This is a sectional freelance railroad based in the 1930s and 1940s. Cletus Waldman constructed this HO layout.

You will find many interesting features at the Dagus and Rockwood website including a blog, links to other interesting sites, and a ton of photos of the layout. Cletus' website is an excellent example of a "simple but elegant" site that is a pleasure to look at and provides interesting information.

I recommend a visit to Cletus Waldman's Dagus and Rockwood website.

We are featuring the website of the PRR Buffalo Line by Steve Mallery. This is a railroad based in the 1960s and has a mainline run of 230 feet, including a 140-car capacity yard.

An operating session takes over 3-1/2 hours to complete. Steve draws on his background as a real-life dispatcher for Norfolk Southern to add realism to his layout and sessions.

Paying a visit to the PRR Buffalo Line would be time well spent.
