Modeling With The Masters

The Next MWTM Seminar...

Spring Edition 2005

When: Thursday – Saturday, March 31 April 1, 2 - departing for home on the 3rd 2005

Availability: Limited to 24.  Register early!

Cost: $495.00 us (non-members $695 us) 

Program Topics:

The program outline is a basic guideline only. A full outline will be sent to all participants prior to the event date.

Participants will be presented with a clinic in each of the following.
  1. Introduction to Making Master Patterns and Making Molds
  2. Introduction to Painting and Weathering Rolling Stock
  3. Introduction to Plaster Structures
  4. Scenery Specialties: Rock Work and Water Projects

These clinics will provide background on the history of the subject, current available materials, kits, methods of construction, and an outline of the hands on projects. After watching a lesson, the participants will build a small project based on this lesson material. A staff of Master Model Railroaders will be available to assist the participants during the full session. At the end of the course, the participants will have several items to take home.

We will try to provide models in your scale; however, this may not be possible due to availability. If a model in your preferred scale is not available, you will be given a substitute in another scale. When you register, you will receive a confirmation package, which will include a list of modeling tools you will require to actively take part in the program. The participant must supply all tools.

Instructors

We are planning to have 2 to 4 MMR's on hand to assist you with your experience. The MMR's for this session will be Al Boos, well know modeler who has written several articles on modeling in the model railroad press and is a professional model builder for court cases. Clark Kooning, Lead Instructor for Modeling with the Masters program, Clark has been teaching model railroading to beginners through advanced modelers in his night school course for over 10 years in addition to giving clinics and having won model contest at NMRA national conventions. Additional instructors are currently being confirmed.

Please note due to emergency circumstances MMR's and hands on clinics material maybe substituted without notice.

Travel

Travel to and from Sacramento as well as from the airport to the hotel, is on your own. Several airlines fly into Sacramento. Please check with your travel agent.

Accommodations

Accommodations will be in a Marriott Court Yard in Sacramento. The hotel is near to several restaurants and social types of establishments. Your accommodations are included in the price of the seminar. This however, is based on a shared room or double occupancy. We will make every reasonable attempt to assign rooms with similar requests. There is an upgrade charge for single occupancy (or if you are bringing family or a spouse not participating in the Modeling with the Masters program. (Please see registration form for details.) Registration Fee

We have tried to do our best to give you great value at a reasonable price. The base cost for the weekend is $495.00 US per person. This includes three nights lodging - with shared accommodations, two lunches, refreshments, and all materials costs. The estimated value of your take home materials will be approximately $75.00 to $100.00. For those who live locally and do not require lodging a reduced registration fee is listed

Registrations will be limited to 24 participants and will be taken on a first come first serve basis. A Stand-by list will be kept in the order received, and you will be contacted if space becomes available. Registrations must be paid in full at the time of application.

Cancellation Policy: Notice of cancellation must be in writing. Prior to March 15, 2005 a 50% refund will be returned to you. No refunds will be forwarded after March 15, 2005
