HO Collectors & History SIG

The HO Scale Collectors and History Special Interest Group of the National Model Railroad Association was started in October 1982. Now in its 21st year, the membership has 178 members.

Published quarterly, THE REPORTING MARK is the culmination of many years of effort by a dedicated group of NMRA and TCA members interested in the varied aspects of HO Scale collecting of rolling stock, locomotives structures etc., as well as the history of HO scale. THE REPORTING MARK provides a detailed and unique insight into out of production equipment manufactured by the model railroad industry in HO Scale. (The SIG ha a 1400+ database listing of cardstock side HO cars, all equipment manufactured, list includes reporting mark, side number, heralds and colors.) We are constantly looking for new material on these subjects and are about to embark on the early brass locomotive production.

A "Lost and Found" column contains want and for sale ads of THE REPORTING MARK members that are place free of charge

To date many articles have been published that cover such manufacturers as Athearn, Thomas, Walthers, Globe, Comet, Bill Francis, Mantua, Varney, HObbyline and Penn Line just to mention a few and we are just beginning to scratch the surface. Historical articles date back to the 1920's. There are unlimited numbers of subjects to be covered by the SIG. All members are encouraged to contribute to the publication even if it means writing down a few side numbers of a car that we failed to mention in an article or sending in photographs of models.

Subscription are $10.00 per year for NMRA or TCA members; $12.00 per year for all others.

Articles written for THE REPORTING MARK are creditable toward the NMRA Merit Achievement program Model Railroad Author certificate.
